An Overview of Walk in Love

We couldn’t imagine not coming together to share Holy Communion during Easter, so we’re pleased to be able to offer a way for those of us who can do so safely to come together in a socially responsible manner, beginning on Pentecost Sunday. This touch-free, open air experience is an important step in our progress towards re-opening the campus for use by all.

Please watch Fr. Tom’s video for a more complete description of the experience and greater understanding of how this fits in our plans for returning to in-person worship in the coming weeks.

Parking will be available in the surface lot (please enter from Golfview Drive). Look for signs and staff directing you to proceed into our beautiful new Garden Walkway, where you and your family group will begin your journey.

Practicing social distancing, and wearing masks, you will be guided through a series of prayer stations, moving through the garden walkway and into the courtyard, where you will receive Communion and a blessing.

You will then follow the path around the far side of Westbury Hall as you return to your cars.

We’ll be here from 8 a.m. to noon each Sunday. We expect you can complete the Walk in Love route in approximately fifteen minutes.

An alternate route for those with mobility issues – please enter the Parking Garage on the lower level so that we can come to your car to pray with you (at a safe distance) and offer Communion in that way.

We will continue to hold our worship services and formation offerings online for the foreseeable future. Our Traditional service will begin at 8 a.m. starting on Pentecost Sunday, and of course it will remain online so you can participate at any time.

A few Notes About Comfort

  • We’re committed to keeping this experience touch-free, so remember that, for safety’s sake, all hugs will be virtual!
  • Restroom facilities will not be accessible during your visit.
  • Regrettably, we can’t offer water or refreshments yet, but you’re welcome to bring your re-usable water bottles from home.
  • Remember, we’ll be in the open air. Dress for the weather – and bring an umbrella for rain or shade if you prefer. If there is persistent rain we may need to change or cancel our plans for that day.

If you have questions or concerns about this or any of our ministries, please contact any member of our staff.

See you soon!
