Christ Church has been recognized for leading the way for greater justice in Jacksonville, through our work with ICARE, the Interfaith Coalition for Action, Reconciliation and Empowerment. At a celebration earlier this week, ICARE representatives presented Christ Church with their Pace Setter Award.
For over 20 years, ICARE has made justice a priority in the greater Jacksonville community. Christ Church has demonstrated amazing leadership in this effort. We conducted a powerful listening process, and increased our turnout at the Nehemiah Action Assembly by 300%. With at least 135 people, ours was the largest attendance of the 38 congregations in this year’s assembly. Our ministry leaders have attended local and national training sessions, and many of our members have invested financially in the mission as well.
Led by Fr. Keith Oglesby, Mary and Frank Watson, Mark Barrett, Jeri Rogers, Kathy Blackman and Ruth Deen, the Christ Church justice ministry has shown steady growth for the last two years, and we are always looking for ways to engage more people in this important work. If you care about justice and fairness in our community we hope you’ll join us. Contact Fr. Keith for more information.
