Families at Christ Church – Join the Fun!
Welcome friends! At Christ Church, we are one big family of families, and it’s our joy to welcome you into our life together. We hope you’ll join the fun this fall and winter!
There are opportunities to worship on Sundays that work for everyone — indoors, outdoors, and online! While children are welcome at all of our services, the outdoor service at 9:00 a.m. is especially family friendly. Bring your own chairs and come as you are! Social distancing guidelines are in place. Masks are required indoors at all times, and strongly encouraged outdoors.
The season of Advent will begin on Sunday, November 29th, with wreath-making and interactive prayer stations before and after morning worship services, in the courtyard outside the main sanctuary and in lower level of the Formation Building.
Our annual St. Nicholas Service and Toy Drive will take place outdoors in the courtyard on Wednesday, December 9th, at 5:30 pm. Our very own St. Nicholas will tell us his story, and help prepare our hearts for Christmas. A collection of new and gently used toys will be distributed to our local outreach partner agencies.
On Wednesday, December 16th, our Night of the Holy Family service will also take place in the courtyard. This special evening brings together our English and Spanish speaking parishioners for a beautiful bilingual service commemorating the holy family’s journey to Bethlehem.
This year, our Christmas Eve celebration will begin on Wednesday, December 23rd, in order to provide smaller gatherings and outdoor options. A traditional worship service including a children’s pageant will be offered in the courtyard at 4:00 pm on December 23rd. If your children (of any age!) would like to participate in the pageant, please let us know.
Our Children’s Choir will be singing at each of these outdoor services, and new singers are always welcome! If your child in 2nd – 8th grade is interested in singing this season, please reach out to Stephanie Bennie. Outdoor rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, November 4th.
Families are also currently coming together for a new small group program called Community Circles! The ways in which we gather in-person have changed, but we continue to long for meaning, purpose, and connection. Each Circle will consist of several families with children of similar ages, who’d like to get together twice a month at a time that works best for them, in an agreed upon outdoor location (beach, backyard, park, etc.). Christ Church Family Ministry will provide resources for each meeting such as a short reading, discussion questions, a simple activity, and a prayer – to make each meeting fun and meaningful. Most groups will begin meeting in November. New families are always welcome!
Love – it’s what we’re all about at Christ Church. We believe that all people are lovable in the eyes of God (no exceptions), that we are called to love others as Jesus did, and that the Holy Spirit is at work all around us. As our life together continues in old and new ways, it would be our joy to welcome you into our family.
To stay in the loop, please let us know how to reach you here. And personally, I’d love to help you feel at home here – please call or text me anytime at (904) 878-3357.
