Walking the Bridgeless Canyon: Repairing the Breach Between the Church and the LGBT Community by Kathy Baldock
A book study for adults presented by The Lighthouse at Christ Episcopal Church
Twenty years ago, Kathy Baldock, a straight, conservative Christian, developed a friendship which challenged her cultural and religious beliefs about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. In Walking the Bridgeless Canyon, Baldock examines the historical, social, medical, cultural, and religious layers through which people often view the gay and transgender communities.
Meticulously researched and highly accessible, this book is relevant for those who are striving to understand how the LGBT community has become a target of cultural and religious discrimination, students of civil rights, and Christians across the conservative/progressive spectrum who are seeking to find a more informed, civil and gracious way to engage with one another and the LGBT community in general. The study will be facilitated by Catherine Montgomery and Landon Leiker. All are welcome.
There are two ways to participate. Both options will include eight weekly sessions, with a break during Holy Week.
