The Godly Play method is a curriculum of spiritual practice exploring the mystery of God’s presence in our lives. Godly Play engages what is most exciting about religious education: God inviting us into—and pursuing us in the midst of—Scripture and spiritual experience. Godly Play practice teaches us to listen for God and to make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives.
Through parables, sacred stories, and liturgical action presentations, the wonder of God is opened. The Godly Play method focuses clearly and deeply on the child’s spirituality, with an openness throughout that allows the child to make his or her own meaning.
Godly Play meets on Sundays, 10:15 – 11:00 am. Children as young as three years old by the start of school (and fully potty trained) may attend. The nursery is also available during the Sunday School hour for children who might not be quite ready for Godly Play.
Godly Play classrooms belong to the children, and we create opportunities for older children to shepherd younger children in mixed-age classrooms. There are two Primary Godly Play rooms, each with children aged 3 through kindergarten, and two Intermediate Godly Play rooms, each with children in 1st and 2nd grades.
