Children’s Christian Formation
We believe that fostering the spiritual development of our children is just as important as fostering their physical and mental development. In everything we do, we seek to honor their unique experience of God, and give them the tools they need to explore the possibilities of faith in their own lives. Under normal circumstances, Children’s Formation (Sunday School) classes meet on Sundays from 10:15-11:00 during the school year.
COVID-19 UPDATE: As soon as we are safely able to gather again, we’ll meet in the newly constructed Formation and Arts Building. In the meantime, Love First at Home met online weekly throughout the spring and summer. Currently, as in-person worship comes back together slowly and safely, Love First at Home will not be meeting on Zoom so that families can focus on worshiping together. Resources will continue to be posted to the website weekly so that families can explore faith together at home on their own time. We look forward to resuming in-person Sunday School soon! Please stay tuned for details.
Love First at Home provides an opportunity each week to look for God’s love in the world, and dream about how we might bring God’s love to others. Godly Play videos, preschool chapel stories, and ideas for fostering faith at home can be found on our Children’s Ministry Facebook page and Instagram @kidsatcec. To stay in the loop, please subscribe to our monthly email newsletter.
Children as young as three years old before the start of the school year who are fully potty trained may begin Godly Play, while younger children (or those not yet ready for Sunday School) can generally attend the Nursery. (Please note, the nursery is currently closed but we look forward to reopening soon.)
Children are welcome to join our activities at any time during the year. Have questions about any of our programs for kids? Please contact Catherine Montgomery, Director of Children’s Formation and Family Ministry.
Christ Church hosts a week of Vacation Bible School each summer for children age 4 through rising 5th grade. Bible stories, games, crafts, and music, help curious kids learn more about faith and connect with one another. This fun and inspiring week is made possible by the service of youth and adult volunteers.
