Dear Christ Church Parishioners,
.
Easter blessings to you all!
.
I have some news to share with you. It is very good news for the wider Episcopal Church, but unhappy news for us at Christ Church.
.
Our beloved pastor, priest, and friend, Fr. Remington Slone, has prayerfully discerned and accepted a call to be the new Rector at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Roswell, GA.
.
Fr. Remington has been with us for about seven years. Though he had a short curacy before he came to us, he really cut his teeth in ministry here. He started out as our Associate for Christian Formation and Traditional Worship. Over the years he expanded his ministry portfolio to include leadership of the Jordan services and our many Arts ministries. Finally, as Vice Rector, he oversees the day-to-day operation of the church, including budget management. Notably, he led the complete overall redesign and deployment of our church management software. He is uncommonly talented (for a priest) in the areas of digital technology and those talents have benefited the church tremendously.
.
When I was convalescing after my stroke, I asked Fr. Remington to step in and lead this church. He did an outstanding job under the most difficult circumstances. He has been my right hand. I will always be in his debt. He is a talented preacher and priest, a gifted teacher, and a strong leader.
.
I know that this will be difficult for many of you, especially those who worship in the Jordan services. But one of the gifts that Christ Church offers to the wider church is our willingness to train young clergy, to see them grow and blossom as priests, and then to wish them well as God calls them to new adventures in their vocation. There have been many such clergy here at Christ Church. Some stayed for a season; others had longer tenures. Each one offered unique gifts. Each one loved you with a pastor’s heart. And each time they left, it hurt a little. It will be no different with Fr. Remington when he moves to St. David’s to be their new Rector.  But we can take comfort in our faith that this is God’s will for Remington, for St. David’s, and for Christ Church.
.
Directly, I will be working with the Bishop, our clergy team, the vestry, and other parish leaders to find our next priest. We will work prayerfully, deliberately, and with dispatch. Please commend this task to your prayers.
.
Finally, please join me in wishing Remington, Casey, Madeleine, Clara, and Becket every good blessing in the next chapter of their grand adventure in God’s vineyard. We are so happy for them!
.
Fr. Remington’s last Sunday with us will be May 2nd. There will be celebration in honor of the Slone family in the Courtyard on April 28th at 6 p.m.
.
Every blessing,
.

Fr. Tom
