Rising 6th-8th Graders
June 27th – July 2nd
Hometown Mission Week – Jacksonville, FL
Mission weeks at Christ Church have always been an exciting part of our youth program, and we are are so excited to offer a hometown mission week for our middle school students this summer. We’ll spend time learning about the unique needs in our Jacksonville and Beaches communities, serve with some outreach partners, and have tons of fun! This week is a hybrid of a day-camp experience with two overnight lock-ins and a trip down the Itchetuknee at the end of the week! We will begin with a dinner and a lock-in at the church on the evening of Sunday, June 27th and concluding the week in the afternoon on Friday, July 2nd. On Monday through Thursday of Hometown of Mission Week, we will begin each day at Christ Church at 8:00 a.m. and will return for pickup at 5:00 p.m. at the church. To conclude the service portion of the week, we will then host all participants for the second lock-in on Thursday night before the trip to Itchetuknee on Friday. Priority will be given to middle school students who register, but high school students looking to help lead groups should reach out to Brooks Slater, Director of Youth Ministries.
Depending on the state of the coronavirus this summer, we may require a negative test before departure and we will be encouraging all participants to be vigilant in ensuring they are not exposed in the week leading up to our mission week.
Payment: Participants and families may either pay in full when registering or may pay in two separate increments. If paying in separate installments, a $100 deposit will be required when registering and then we will send a separate link to you to pay the second deposit which will be due by May 1st. If the cost makes it prohibitive from your participate registering and attending our mission week, please inquire to Brooks Slater, Director of Youth Ministries, about need-based financial assistance for your family.
Refund Policy: Refunds will be considered only if (1) The participant’s spot is filled by another participant on the waitlist, (2) There is a medical illness precluding a participant from attending the event per a doctor’s recommendation (note required), (3) The participant tests positive for COVID-19 or is quarantined because of an exposure to COVID-19 in accordance to CDC guidelines, or (4) A death of a family member or friend resulting in the participant attending memorial/funeral activities. Notwithstanding, Christ Episcopal Church will not refund any fees which cannot be retrieved from third party vendors. If fees are incurred for the waitlisted participant (such as airline transfer fees), the cancelling participant’s refund (if any) will be adjusted to cover those fees.
Questions?: If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Brooks Slater or Landon Leiker, Assistant Director of Youth and Family Ministries. We are excited to have you join us for this year’s Hometown Mission Week in Jacksonville!
