I had a question about baptism. I live in the atlanta area and am not an official member of any episcopal church, although I have recently started attending a local episcopal church. I am interested in baptising my son (9 months) but I wasnt sure how your process worked. The baptism would take place in Jacksonville since all of my family lives there. Can you review with me how you handle baptism for infants, especially under the circumstances where I am not an active member of your church. Thank you in advance.

Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble. Parents and Godparents of infants present their candidate, make promises in their own names, and also take vows on behalf of their candidates.

At Christ Church, we encourage our members to have their children baptized in the church, so that the church can live into its promise to support this person in their new life in Christ. We also strongly encourage people from out of town to find a church home to baptize their children in, so that the child grows up with the support of their congregation. However, these are not hard and fast rules and we would love to talk with you further. Please contact Fr. Justin at 904-285-6127 or at jyawn@christepiscopalchurch.org.
