OutreachFollowing Jesus' teachings, Christ Church parishioners take their ministries beyond the church property to reach out to others in need in the local community and to mission programs for other parts of the world. Bolivia Adult Pilgrimage, November 8 - 16 On this spiritual jounry to the poorest country in South America, we'll visit Amistad Mission, an ecumenical partnership between North Americans and Bolivians which Christ Church has supported for more than ten years. Amistad consists of a Children's Village (orphanage) in the city of Cochabamba, as well as a medical clinic, day care and schoool in Aramasi, a rural village in the high Andes.
We'll stay in modest, yet safe and comfortable, accomodation of Amistad's retreat house in Cochabamba. We'll do a small work project at the Children's Village, and spend time developing relationships with the children. We'll spend a night at Aramsi and experience life as Quechua Indians lived for centuries. The cost - including round-trip airfare, ground transportation, room and board - is $1,725 per person, plus visa and immunizations. A $500 non-refundable deposit will secure your spot. Christ Church supports a house, the housemother, and ten children. www.amistadmission.org Beaches Elderly Housing provides affordable housing in a compassionate atmosphere for lower income elderly in the beaches community. Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) provides short-term social services for beaches area residents, seeking to help them through times of financial crisis with the goal of enabling them to become self reliant. Betty Griffin House provides protection and services, including temporary shelter and counseling, for victims of domestic violence and their minor children and raises awareness within the community. Christ Church Pantry provided food for those in need. Donations should be labeled "Christ Church Pantry" and delivered to the church office. Christian Healing Ministry trains and equips people called to a ministry of healing through prayer. Compass Rose provides emergency relief around the world through the Anglican Communion. www.compassrosesociety.org Cuba Liaison offers support to the Cuban Church. Dignity-U-Wear provides new clothing and personal care products to abused, homeless, and abandoned children. Assistance is continuously needed to sort donations. Episcopal Relief and Development is the collective response of Episcopalians to those in need. Florida/Georgia Blood Alliance collects blood donations from the parish several times each year. Habitat for Humanity constructs new houses for those in need to help build strong families, solid communities, and lasting partnerships. Helping Hands Ministry provides housing, food, and clothing for low-income families in the beaches community and helps them achieve self sufficiency. Hospice offers a variety of resources and compassionate care for terminally ill patients and their families. Kairos provides support to those in prison through personal visits, weekend retreats, and distribution of cookies. Mission House supplies food, clothing, counseling, and other services for the homeless and those in need in the beaches community. Nielsen Organ Transplant Foundation promotes organ donor awareness and provides financial assistance to organ transplant patients in Northeast Florida. www.notf.org Otis Smith Foundation allows underprivileged youth to enjoy summer camp and obtain medical and dental check-ups. www.otissmithfoundation.com Outreach Committee prayerfully oversees and administers the outreach budget. Prisoners of Christ provides support support for persons released from prison. Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge furnishes books and support for seminary students arund the world. St. Mary's Mission provides food and clothing to inner city families. Donations labeled "St. Mary's" may be delievered to the church office. St. Vincent de Paul Society distributed donated household goods. The Gideons International brings people to Christ through the distribution of 59,000,000 Bibles annually. The Healing Touch is a radio broadcast that teaches the healing power of Christ. United Thank Offering provides families with small coin boxes to be used as reminders of our blessings. Offerings are used for diocesan ourtreach projects. Young Life ministers to middle and high school students, communicating God's love in their terms. Leaders model trust, respect, and responsibility in their Christian commitment. |
