What To Expect

Lay appreciation photos 002Christ Episcopal Church is a multi-campus church with a vibrant and active membership. A typical week brings hundreds of people onto our campuses for ministriesfellowship groupseducationcommunity programs and other activities specific to each age and stage of life. Our church is a welcoming place of hospitality and we look forward to saying hello, showing you around, and making sure your experience makes you want to return often!

What should I wear?

As we have a wide variety of service styles, you will see a wide variety of attire at our services, classes and events. Many folks remain most comfortable in resort wear (we are a beach community!) but blazers are often seen as well as shorts in the summer months!

Where do I park?

At the Ponte Vedra Beach campus, our two-level parking garage is accessed from the San Juan Drive entrance. There is convenient handicap parking before entering the garage as well as on both levels of the garage. At Ponte Vedra we also have a large surface parking lot that can be accessed from the rear of the parking garage or from our Golfview Drive entrance. There are easy walkways from the parking areas and directional signage to help you orient yourself. The San Pablo campus is accessed directly from San Pablo Road and there is ample parking in front of the church, as well as handicap parking. The Serenata Beach campus parking is provided in the Serenata Beach Club parking areas which are not gated and easily accessed from A1A (South Ponte Vedra Boulevard.) After parking, enter the front doors of the Club and take the elevator to the second floor where the service is held.

What do I do with my kids during church?

All kids are welcome to our services! However, our Nurseries welcome newborns up to Kindergarten-aged children. The Ponte Vedra Beach campus nursery is available on Sundays from 8:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 5:15 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. The San Pablo campus offers nursery services from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Sundays.

Where should I sit in church?

We hope you will sit wherever is most comfortable for you! The Ushers are happy to help you with any special needs or seating requirements you may have, including wheelchairs and devices for the hearing impaired. While long-time parishioners often sit in the same location each week, they welcome you to join them for worship and fellowship.

What if I am not an Episcopalian?

Many who attend at Christ Church come from other faith traditions and all are welcome and encouraged to participate! You can follow the service in the bulletin provided, as well as the  Book of Common Prayer (BCP), the Hymnal, and the Parish Songbook; all provided in the pews and chairs at our services. The EPIC service uses visual technology to display the words and information you need to participate in that worship. Remember too, our New Member Class is designed to answer any questions you may have about the Episcopal Church as well as Christ Church. We hope you will take advantage of this series to get started!

How long is the service?

With such a wide variety of services, the length of the service may vary as well! Typically, Sunday worship takes about an hour. Weekday services and Healing Prayer services may only last 30 minutes, depending on attendance.

Is there Sunday school?

Almost every Sunday there is Christian Formation (education) offered at all three of our campuses. The formation generally takes place during the 10 a.m. hour and topics can range depending on the season and age group. There is a complete listing of formation classes in the For You section of this website. We would encourage you to start with the New Member Class, but feel free to experience any of our offerings to help you on your own faith journey!

What does multi-campus mean?

Christ Church is unique in the Episcopalian tradition in that we operate one church in several different locations. Multiple campuses help us meet the spiritual needs of people in different areas of North Florida, and provide an opportunity to offer a wide variety of worship styles and Christian Formation programming. Each campus has a unique style, a unique setting, and yet, has access to everything offered by the larger, established Ponte Vedra Beach campus. Check out the Locations section to learn more about each campus!
