Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord

Christ Episcopal Church's music program features a diverse offering of choral, praise and traditional church music. Led by Dr. Rachel Root, Christ Episcopal Church invites its parishioners to embrace their worship experience by lifting their voices to the Lord in song.

The music and arts program also offers opportunities for musicians to let their light shine, performing for various services at the church.

Choir School

The Choir School program guides children along the path to becoming mature Christians who serve the church through God's gift of music. Professional music instruciton is offered at no charge to all children, ages 3 through ninth grade in the greather beaches community. In keeping with the Royal School of Church music practices, with whom the choir has been associated, basic music theory and sight-singing skills are taught.

Cherub Choir

(Pre-K through first grade) practices 4-4:30 p.m. Wednesday and sings occasionally on Sundays throughout the year. This introductory choir assists children in learning the routine and discipline necessary for a lifetime of music

St. Nicholas Choir

(Second grade and above) is the ensemble which leads music each week for the 9:00 a.m. worship service, singing every Sunday throughout the school year and for major feast days (especially Christmas Eve).

if your children are interested in being a part of the children's choirs, please contact Tim Root by email call 253.223.1823.

Adult Choirs

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir leads the congregation in hymn singing, anthems and service music. All are welcome. The Chancel Choir sings for the 11:15 a.m. worship services and for special services during the church year. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays in the Choir Room from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

A Capella Choir

The A Cappella Choir rehearses on Sunday afternoon from 4-5:15 p.m. in the sanctuary. Junior High and Senior High School students are welcome to join as well as all ages. The A Cappella Choir sings one Sunday a month for the 5:30 p.m. service and also for special services and events.

Contemporary Music Team

The Contemporary Music Team is a group of youth who lead music for the 11:15 a.m. Sunday contemporary worship service in the Parish Center. The team includes singers and instrumentalists. All are welcome.

HANDBELL Choirs

Mallory Episcopbells

This special group of handbell ringers are a team of 11 to 15 people that rehearse once a week and play for worship services approximately once a month. It is a great opportunity to grow both musically and spiritually. High School youth and adults are welcome.

Tone Chimes Choir

Tone chimes are the stepping stone to playing the handbells. The Tone Chime Choir is for children, 4th grade and up. This is a great way to learn to read music and a lot of fun to play.

Muscial Theater & Drama

This is for all ages. If you love to sing, are willing to dance, and enjoy musical theatre, this is for you!

Violin Choir

Embrace the opportunity to enhance your child's musical education with group violin lessons that culminate in church performances several times a year. There are no lesson costs for Christ Church members, but they must have a violin. This violin choir is directed toward 4th and 5th graders.

Funeral Choir

The Funeral Choir sings at funerals and memorial services. All are welcome to sing. We rehearse 30 minutes prior to the service.
